Anchored into Summer

As many of you know I graduated college this year, and recently started a new job. I love it but it keeps me super busy, even on the weekends. I am definitely looking forward to spending time down the Cape with my family and up in Maine with Mike.

That is what I love about New England, we really have everything right here within driving distance. We can drive to the beach, the mountains, lakes, and the woods. I grew up going down the Cape and am definitely a beach person! When I was seven my family went on a seriously disastrous camping trip to Maine, which pretty much turned me off of Maine until I started dating Mike. The past four years I have loved going up to Maine with him, its nice to get away just the two of us. There is no wifi, and only 4 TV channels, so its very easy to unplug and relax for a weekend.

I am looking forward to traveling a lot this summer and now that the weather is finally starting to feel like summer there are plenty of beach days in my future! This dress is from vineyard vines, I think I got it in 2014 maybe? I love the nautical anchor details and the rope belt! It is the perfect summer dress, the collar keeps it professional enough to wear to the office but it’s still fun enough for a night out! I am always looking for nautical pieces to add to my wardrobe and I go back to them every summer. I talk about quality over quantity a lot. This dress is four years old and is still in great condition! Yes it cost $100+ initially but I am still wearing it four years later! You can spend $15 on a dress at Primark but it will be ruined after one or two wears and you will be going right back to the store to spend another $15 dollars and another and another. There are so many quality brands out there, building a wardrobe doesn’t happen over night and investing in quality pieces is the best way to build a long term wardrobe.

Investment dressing is so worth it. I have certain items in my wardrobe which I still love wearing and I bet they’re older than you!
