If you have been on social media at all in the past couple weeks I am sure you have seen people posting about Wicked Tulips! It is a gorgeous tulip farm in Johnston Rhode Island. It is gorgeous and well worth the drive!! It is the Colby Farm of spring! The season ended this week which means if you didn’t make it it’s time to start planning for next year! Here are a few tips to make your trip as enjoyable as possible! 
1. You need a ticket
In order to get in you need a ticket, your ticket comes with 10 tulips along with your entrance. They do sell out, even on weekdays, so be sure to get your ticket ahead of time. Join the Wicked Tulips email list so you can get alerts on ticket sales. They did a pre-sale this year before the fields opened. 
2. Go early
This is a two for one tip. Go early in the season and go early in the day! I unfortunately had a final the day we went so we couldn’t get down there until mid afternoon. But I would try to get there right when they open, there are tons of people. Some are taking photos, some have kinds and strollers with them, and tons are just enjoying the tulips! The earlier in the day you get there the less people. Try and go in the first week! The field only lasts for about 3 weeks and is very dependent on weather so get in that email list and get tickets for one of the first two weekends! 
3. Start in the show garden
Wicked Tulips planned really well, they had a show garden and a picking garden. Start in the show garden all the flowers are labeled so you can know exactly what type of tulip it is. Take a look at all the different varieties and then head over to the picking field knowing exactly what you want! 
4. Respect
Everyone is there to have fun, be patient. That being said if you are there to take photos don’t be too extra. Respect the people around you who are just there to enjoy the beautiful fields of tulips. Respect that Wicked Tulips is a family owned farm. They sell their tulips so if you pick one you’re buying it do not pick and then discard, I saw so my tulips just left on the ground after being picked! And should be common sense but do not walk through the tulip beds, stay on the paths. 
5. Bring water
I had a fairly long drive home and my tulips got a little droopy and wilted on the ride. Bring some water so you can immediately put your tulips in them. If you forget a cup wet some paper towels or napkins and wrap them around the stems!
I had so much fun at Wicked Tulips! I can’t wait to go back next year. I went with my mom and aunt Mary and we had a blast! So sad the season is over but that means summer is right around the corner! Whats your favorite spring/summer place to visit? Any tips?
