Boston Fall

I love fall in Boston, there is something so romantic about the season. The stoops in Beacon Hill get all decked out for the season, the leaves in the Commons are starting to change, and football season is in full swing!

This is one of my favorite fall sweaters, because lets be real for every beautiful crisp fall day there is a rainy fall day. Rainy days are the perfect excuse to stay inside read, watch scary movies, bake, or just lay on the couch and listen to the rain.

I am wearing my favorite Madewell sunglasses and my LL Bean muck shoes. Things I am looking forward to this October: Halloween, Oktoberfest, going to Maine, and eating lots of cider donuts! There are tons of micro-breweries in the Boston area that are hosting Oktoberfest events. Mike and I will go to Maine for a couple of days to relax, we still haven’t decided what we’re going to be for Halloween. Send me you favorite couple costumes!

Hydrangea Lane

One of my favorite things about visiting the Cape is all the beautiful hydrangeas. It is actually the PH in the soil that determined their color. Up in Boston most hydrangeas bloom pink or purple, but on the cape they are always a beautiful shade of blue. My dad planted some special in our yard at home so that they would bloom blue every year!

Packing for the cape is normally rushed, I toss a whole bunch of dresses, a swimsuit, and some sandals in a bag and hope for the best. I was happy to find this oldie but goodie in my bag! Its vineyard vines a few years ago, the v-neck was a little deep for me so I had the fabric sewed up a little higher. I love the stripes, it is the perfect preppy dress! My tote is from Madewell and I got my hat at Nordstrom a couple of summers ago.

Sea Shell by the Sea Shore

There is an Isak Dinesen quote that goes, “The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea.”

There were definitely sweat and tears this week and I can’t wait to spend sometime by the sea. A short break by the beach is exactly what I need to unwind. If I had to pick a favorite thing about New England it would be all the small little beach towns you can escape to. My favorite has always been West Dennis; my family has been going there every summer since my grandfather was little. But there are also adorable towns up and down the coast. There is Rockport, Scituate, Newport, Bar Harbor, Camden, and so many more. What’s your favorite coastal escape?

This Lilly dress is one of my ‘holy-grails’, when it first came out I couldn’t afford it. Most of my Lilly dresses are actually bought second hand on apps like Poshmark. Last summer I finally scored this one for half its retail price on Posh!

Avoiding tan lines

Well if there was any question before summer is definitely here. This weeks heat wave had me living in the pool! When it gets really hot like that I love to be able to just toss on a dress and go. I really and not a big fan of shorts when its hot out, I feel like they never sit right and I spend way to much time and energy adjusting them! I am loving this off the shoulder Embroidered Oxford Dress from vineyard vines. It is perfect for hot days, I wore it out to dinner the other night after a day by the beach. It is super light and comfy for that lightly sunburnt skin. The embroidered details on the hem dress in up enough while keeping the overall look casual. I will definitely be packing this dress for all my beach vacations this summer.

I paired the dress with my o-to gold Jack Rogers, an adorable necklace from Peachy Pendants, and my favorite Madewell tote. My earrings are from Primark, and only cost $5!!

Thank you so much vineyard vines for sending me this fabulous summer dress, as always all opinions are my own. I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. I hung out at the pool with my friends, be sure to check out my 4th of July video on IGTV here. What do you all think of IGTV, into it or all set? Let me know in the comments!
