October on the Hill

I have always loved living in Beacon Hill, every season, every holiday, people go all out! And October means Halloween! The displays are going up this weekend and they are already looking amazing. Take sometime next week and stroll through Beacon Hill to take in all the Halloween decorations. Acorn street always brings it but my personal favorite is Louisburg Square!

#BeanBootsandBrews

Last week I headed up to Portland to celebrate the launch of L.L. Bean’s small batch Bean Boots! The event was held at the O’Maine Studio a fabulous event space right in downtown Portland. The L.L. Bean team did an amazing job, walking in was like being transported to a Fall wonderland! Along with checking out the new small batch Bean Boots, we sampled beer from localPortland breweries. I tend to favor wine but I was super impressed by some of the beers!

My favorite was the Orono Brewing CO’s IPA. The Fog Town Pale Ale was also nice and refreshing. There were lobster rolls, my personal favorite, tacos, and s’mores! Portland has an amazing food scene and tons of fantastic microbreweries! Mike and I were in Portland last month for a friends wedding and I was so excited to get back there to explore more.

L.L. Bean has always been one of my favorite brands. Every time Mike and I are driving up to his cabin in Maine we stop at the Freeport flagship store and I can never resist buying something new! L.L. Bean is my go to place for outdoor gear and their signature line has adorable sweaters for fall. My Bean Boots have been a wardrobe staple for years, last year I got a pair of blue ones and I was excited to get a pair of the new plaid shearling lined small batch boots. Be sure to get a pair of small batch Bean Boots before they’re gone, thank you so much to L.L.Bean for having me!

HOCR x Brooks Brothers

This weekend was the Head of The Charles Regatta. It has always been one of my favorite fall traditions. Every year I always plan to go for just an hour or two and end up spending the entire day because it is such a great event. This year was especially fun! I spent the day hanging with the Brooks Brothers team. It was such a great group, we checked out the limited edition HOCR merchandise, grabbed Lobster rolls, and watched the races!

Today is the last day of Head of The Charles Regatta, it is definitely worth swinging by if you have time. Fall is in the air and so is the excitement! There is so much to do and see, big bonus there tends to be a ton of cute dogs. Thank you so much to the Brooks Brothers team for having me, it was so amazing to spend the day with you!

Lavender Days

I love visiting all the beautiful farms all over New England. Each one has something unique to offer. Last weekend my friend Elyssa and I visited The Farm At SummitWynds for Lavender Day, about an hour from Boston it was a beautiful drive. All the leaves along Route 2 were changing and we really got to see some amazing foliage. SummitWynds was beautiful, gorgeous views of foliage, a barn straight out of a fairytale, farm animals, and a vintage Chevy truck! One woman we talked to told us she had gotten married at the farm. I love going to events at local farms, it is so important to shop local and support small family owned agriculture. Facetune_06-10-2018-15-50-01IMG_4622Facetune_06-10-2018-15-50-51Facetune_06-10-2018-15-51-56Facetune_06-10-2018-15-47-00

I am wearing a wool skirt from J.Crew, I love the color it is perfect for fall. Along with with one of my favorite vineyard vines button downs, and my Tory Burch boots. These are all items I have had for a few years but had never paired them together. Spending a little time to get creative with your wardrobe is a great way to avoid buying new items each season! At the end of ever boots season I take mine to a cobbler to have any scratches of scuffs buffed out and last year I had the zipper on one repaired. Now they’re good as new and still my go to fall boots!

Anchored into Summer

As many of you know I graduated college this year, and recently started a new job. I love it but it keeps me super busy, even on the weekends. I am definitely looking forward to spending time down the Cape with my family and up in Maine with Mike.

That is what I love about New England, we really have everything right here within driving distance. We can drive to the beach, the mountains, lakes, and the woods. I grew up going down the Cape and am definitely a beach person! When I was seven my family went on a seriously disastrous camping trip to Maine, which pretty much turned me off of Maine until I started dating Mike. The past four years I have loved going up to Maine with him, its nice to get away just the two of us. There is no wifi, and only 4 TV channels, so its very easy to unplug and relax for a weekend.

I am looking forward to traveling a lot this summer and now that the weather is finally starting to feel like summer there are plenty of beach days in my future! This dress is from vineyard vines, I think I got it in 2014 maybe? I love the nautical anchor details and the rope belt! It is the perfect summer dress, the collar keeps it professional enough to wear to the office but it’s still fun enough for a night out! I am always looking for nautical pieces to add to my wardrobe and I go back to them every summer. I talk about quality over quantity a lot. This dress is four years old and is still in great condition! Yes it cost $100+ initially but I am still wearing it four years later! You can spend $15 on a dress at Primark but it will be ruined after one or two wears and you will be going right back to the store to spend another $15 dollars and another and another. There are so many quality brands out there, building a wardrobe doesn’t happen over night and investing in quality pieces is the best way to build a long term wardrobe.
