2017 Reflection

Wow I really feel like it was 2016 5 minutes ago and now we are about to be in 2018. Despite the light speed this year passed by I certainly managed to fit a lot in it!

This year has definitely made me take inventory of the things (and people) in my life. As we get older we experience more and more stress, between work, school, family obligations, relationships, friendships. You can’t give your time to everything. At a certain point it is time to ask what is worth putting time into. Is that friend who always cancels on you last minute really a friend you want to have? Do you really need to spend money on another new pair of shoes? When I was younger I think I had a lot of ‘frenemies’, toxic or one sided friendships. That doesn’t make these friends bad people, just not my people. This year I definitely let go of a few friendships, I still wish them all the best, and I have made new friendships with people who are going in the same direction I am.

This year Mike and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I moved in with two new, and incredible, roommates. I left a job and started a new one. I took on more and I challenged myself. This year I asked what will make me happy? I’m still not sure if I have the answer totally figured out but I’m working on it everyday. 2017 definitely seemed grim when you look at the news, but as I reflect on the year I realize that I am so incredibly lucky. I am surrounded by a supportive family, an incredible boyfriend and a great group of friends. And of course there is all of you. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I have had some incredible opportunities this year that all happened because of blogging and Instagram. Looking ahead at 2018 I have some exciting things on the calendar. But I’d just like to take a moment to say thank you for all your support, I started this blog as a creative outlet during a time in my life when I was extremely depressed. It is amazing how far you can come in 2 years.

Happy New Years everyone, may 2018 be great for us all!
