Guide to Fall in Woodstock Vermont

If you love fall (and of you don’t why are you even here?) then you’ll want to plan to visit Woodstock Vermont this season. Viewing New England fall foliage is a must every year and I personally believe that Woodstock is one of the best places to take it all in. The charming little town is just under three hours from Boston, so it makes the perfect weekend getaway! IMG_4908IMG_4953IMG_5164

Set your GPS to the Woodstock Inn and Resort. The charming inn is conveniently located in the center of town. If you can book a room I highly recommend staying there for the weekend! If not grab a drink or lunch at the restaurant, check out their giant pumpkins and fall display on the front steps before you head out to explore!

Couple other great places to stop for a bite:

  • Mon Vert Cafe, sandwiches to die for and plenty of vegan and gluten free options!
  • Worthy Kitchen, if its a brisk day stop by for their mac and cheese, its amazing!

Stroll through town, start at the Inn and walk down Central Street and pop in and out of art galleries, boutiques, and some residents even deck their stoops out in pumpkins and fall decor, they make the perfect photo! IMG_4862IMG_4840IMG_5158IMG_4839

Hop back in your car and take a ride over to the Billings Farm and Museum. I’d also recommend heading over to Sugarbush Farm for gorgeous views plus cheese and maples syrup tastings! These are great options for learning a little bit about this history of Vermont.

For the ultimate fall views you’ll want to drive up Cloudland Road, right up the street from Billings Farm. The road winds up a giant hill that allows you to take in amazing views of gorgeous farm land! When you get to the top turn left on Galaxy Hill Road for more picturesque farms and views!

Peak foliage in Vermont is quickly approaching so book your trip now!

Woodstock Vermont Guide

Vermont is a magical place no matter what time of year you go. In the summer there are amazing hikes, fall there is beautiful foliage, but in the winter Vermont becomes winter wonderland with endless skiing! This weekend we did a little girls trip up to Woodstock Vermont. It was actually my first time in the charming little town, though it had been on my list for a while.

I recommend leaving early in the morning to beat any traffic. From Boston it was a 2.5 hour drive. We still haven’t had any real snow in Boston so it was great to see all the snow capped mountains and snow covered pines as we drove up, seriously some beautiful scenery. Once we arrived in Woodstock we checked out the down town area, it is so charming!

First we decided to head over to Sugarbush Farm. There they offer free cheese tasting, you have to try their award winning 3 years aged sharp cheddar! They also do maple syrup tasting, the farm is 500 acres and they tap the trees right in the property. It was way to icey to check out the maple walk but we took in some amazing views from the sugar house, and made friends with some horses. If you’re visiting Woodstock you have to stop by Sugarbush Farm, in addition to cheese and maple syrup they also sell all kinds of jams and spreads!

After a little more exploring down town we were so ready for lunch. We ended up at Worthy Kitchen. Amazing farm to table food and a great craft beer selection. Me and Lauren got the Mac and cheese and I added buffalo chicken to mine. They also had a great selection of hard cider and cocktails for those who aren’t big on beer. The casual friendly atmosphere was the perfect retreat from the cold. Lana got the Lamb Grilled Cheese and truffle fries, you should all know by now truffles fries are my weakness and these did not disappoint. We also split so cinnamon sugar donut hole that were fresh from the over warm and gooey! It is definitely worth a stop next time your in the are.

There are so many great places to stay in Woodstock, lots of bed and breakfast, cozy inns, and even Air BnB options. Something for every type of traveler. If you’re looking for nearby ski options Suicide Six one of the older ski resorts in the country is just a quick drive down the road! Let me know you favorite things to do in Woodstock Vermont!
