Sunday’s in the Country

I love the city in the summer but sometimes it is nice to get out and spend sometime away. The city can get so over crowded with tourists during the summer, it gets hot, and the T is a nightmare! Last weekend my friend Jen and I took a ride out to Nashoba Valley and hung out at Nashoba Valley Winery. I love their wine, they do wine tastings and tours. Pro -tip do the tour before the tasting!

It is officially white jeans season, though I never observe the memorial day rule, I broke out my favorite pair of white jeans from vineyard vines. I love their jeans they are just stretchy enough to be comfortable but they don’t stretch out so much that they don’t fit right after a couple of wears. I just wish vineyard vines would do short length for us short girls!

I also wore a vineyard vines off the shoulder top I got during their after Christmas sale! I accessorized with a fun hat from Nordstrom, Jack Rogers, and my Diff Sunglasses. The Winery is so beautiful they have picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, and an outdoor patio. You can buy snacks at the winery or you can bring a picnic baskets and buy a bottle of wine to enjoy!

Birthday and Wine

Every year for my birthday me and my best friend Megan pick a winery and go do a tasting. Her birthday is November 2nd and mine is the 16th so we always get together on Veterans Day weekend to celebrate together.

This year we visited Mill River Winery in Rowley, MA and then we grabbed lunch and strolled around downtown Newburyport. Mill River was super small but they delivered on the charm. The bar tender was super knowledgeable about the wines. My favorite was the Plum Island Red!

After our tasting we drove the ten minutes to Newburyport. It was a little chilly but the sun was shinning. I had on my Lands End tartan puffer vest. Just like my other Lands End vest the pockets are fleece lined which is perfect for keeping my hands warm! I counted the other day and it turns out I have 6 vests! And that’s after loosing my favorite Vineyard Vines vest this summer when I moved. But I’m a firm believer that you can never have enough vests! Where is your favorite place to get vests from? Newburyport is super charming. I know New England is full of charming seaside towns but I’ve always really liked Newburyport!

When it rains it pours (wine)

Pour the wine! It has been such a rainy cloudy week on the cape. It’s such a bummer when you go to the beach for the week and can’t go to the beach. Its been rainy and cold, I have spent most the time in jeans and a sweater.

Although I would ideally spend every moment on the Cape at the beach there is tons to do on those rainy days. This week I went to Truro Vineyards for the day, I did a tasting hung out on the lawn and strolled around the grounds. It is so beautiful there even if its a bit cloudy. My favorite wine is the Diamond White, it is very sweet but crisp. It is the perfect wine to sip while sitting outside on a beautiful summer afternoon. Truro has a bar out of their lawn, they bring in a food truck and they even have corn hole!

It is the perfect day trip if you are looking to head for the cape for just a day, and if you’re down the cape and get a rainy day the wine makes it better I promise!

Nashoba Valley Winery

I love wine! And I love going on wineries, New England wineries are so quaint and adorable not to mention the delicious wine. Last weekend I got the chance to visit Nashoba Valley Winery for the second time. They not only are on a charming property, they have fantastic wine, and their restaurant J’s is to die for.

Right now they have a Holiday Spiced Cranberry wine, it doesn’t get more New England than that! Nashoba Valley Winery is known for their fruit based wines, they make apple wines and strawberry wine, and blueberry wine. They are so good you have to go and try. A tasting cost $8 and a tour cost $12. I definitely recommend doing the tour before your tasting as they let you taste a few wines during the tour. Be sure to make a reservations at J’s before you go as they do fill up quickly. The food does not disappoint, and it is in the most charming stone house.

It is getting chilly now, but last weekend the sun was shining and the leaves were still putting on quite the show for us. Take some time to walk around the grounds and see everything this beautiful location has to offer. I can’t wait to go back, just 45 minutes from Boston this is a perfect day trip for you and your girlfriends!
