No Shop February

One of the things I love most about blogging is all of the amazing people I meet! My blogger friends are hustlers, they’re talented, they’re artists, they inspire me everyday. My friend Natalie of Wear You Are Now invited me to join the No Shop February Challenge. I was super intrigued when I heard about this, despite my best efforts I always impulse buy. I have enough clothes in my closet that I could go TWO months without doing laundry and still have things to wear. This month I pledge to not buy any new clothes, shoes, or accessories. I will be doing some traveling this spring and I want to put some money away for my trip.

Rather than continuing to fill my space with clutter I am going to take account of the things I have but never wear and donate them. I will also be trying to make all my coffee and tea at home. My main goal is to be more mindful of how I spend my money. I am still budgeting some money for going out but I am cutting myself off of take out. If I am eating at home I can make it at home!

Thank you to all the fabulous ladies doing this challenge with me. We will all be posting updates on our progress, be sure to check them out on Instagram to see how they’re doing during No Shop February! You can follow along with #noshopfeb

Every Fall I become obsessed with leopard print. These flats from Kate Spade not only have leopard print but also a bow! Put a bow on it and I’m in love!

Like I said put a bow on it and I’m in love! No matter how many pairs of black heels I own I always want a new pair. I think I will be adding these ones to my collection very soon!

Kate Spade Bags I Love This Summer

When I was in high school and started working my first job as a hostess as a local restaurant I bought myself a Kate Spade purse. I bought it second-hand of ebay but it was all mine and it was the first really nice bag I had ever had. Since that purchase many years ago I have bought several bags from Kate Spade, it is a brand that I truly trust and am constantly excited by. That first purse I bought back in high school is still in excellent condition today, so that should tell you all you need to know about the quality! Every year Kate Spade comes out with fun and unique bags for every occasion!

As summer approaches I picked out a few bags that are just so fun and perfect for the warm weather!

1. bayard place riley

PXRU7505_974.jpg This bag is a no brainer for summer time! The flowers and pops of color are so fun. But it is big enough that you can toss your laptop in it and head to the office. The outside pocket is perfect for your phone, head phones, or T pass!

2. cameron street straw clarise PXRU7529_974.jpg

I love this bag! It will definitely be my go to bag this summer! I love a cross body because you are not constantly fidgeting with it and it keeps your hands free. I love the pick and straw combination on this bag.

3. spice things up camera bagPXRU7481_974_1.jpg Remember how I said Kate Spade did FUN bags? Yeah this purse is a perfect example of this, all my Instagram Gurus out there NEED THIS BAG! This is so adorable I am in love.

4. bryant court ettaPXRU7462_269.jpg This would be my perfect everyday purse. It is big enough that I can fit all my stuff (read: crap I don’t need) in it but it is still cute. The black and white will match everything and is conservative for those days when you have a big presentation at work or a job interview for all my recent college grads!

I have so many purses but every now and then I get the itch to get a new one. Kate Spade is always my go to brand, yes some of the bags are really expensive but there are also more affordable ones available! And if you really want a Kate Spade bag, or any designer bag, but don’t want to dish out all the money for one check ebay! Or any of the hundreds of resale websites and apps there are now a days! Just be sure to verify the authenticity before buys. I have always had good experiences on Poshmark. One time I got a 400 dollar bag for 100 new with tags still attached! What bag is one your arm doesn’t define you but if you really want that super cute designer bag there is always a  way to get it for less! Look on resale websites and check for upcoming sales, a lot of places do a Friends and Family sale at the beginning of summer!

Thank you all for reading! Let me know what your favorite purse brand is in the comments section.

Derby Day

The Kentucky Derby is one of my favorite events every year! The hats, the dresses, mint juleps, everyone is dressed to the nines in their best preppy attire. Vineyard Vines is the official apparel sponsor of the Derby and every year they put out a fantastic line to fill all your Derby needs.

This year I am so excited to be attending the FOMO Prescription Derby Day party. I am honored to have been asked to judge the Best Dressed Contest, the winner will receive a gift card to Best Dressed an awesome boutique in Southie and Charlestown. There will be a make your own Mint Julep Bar, with a few well known Boston food bloggers there to help you snap the best shot of your julep! This event is going to be so much fun and I am so excited to be apart of it! For ticket information visit their website here.

I hope to see you at the FOMO Derby Day bash but no matter where you are spending the day be sure to look your best! My favorites for any Derby Party:

I think I have to start with a little VV, being the official Derby apparel sponsor their Derby line is fantastic this year! I have been a fan of vineyard vines for a long time and this year’s Derby line brought me back to old school VV. This patchwork dress is perfect for the derby and a classic vineyard vines piece that is a must add to your closet!

Spring Shopping

Hello lovely people! Well the calendar may say it is April but I just came in from shoveling snow so I just don’t believe it. It has been gray and rainy for a week straight in Boston and now to top it off it is going to snow all weekend. I really need some spring weather, or at the very least some spring inspiration! So I have been doing some shopping to get myself in the spring mood even if the weather isn’t. Here is my shopping list for the ultimate preppy wardrobe.

1) Brooks Brothers PantsSU00056_BLUE                 These gingham pants immediately caught my eye. I have so much blue gingham I actually tried to talk myself out of buying these but then I decided no you really can’t ever have enough gingham.

2) Anthropologie Dress4130232795005_040_bI love the lace overlay on this dress, its the perfect casual dress to put a little Spring in your step.

3) Loft Shorts    2f841d815138fa7d56490a6b38525190

I don’t wear shorts very often, I almost always prefer a dress or skirt but these short are so fun and comfortable! From the bow to the stripes they are definitely going to become a staple in my spring wardrobe.

4) J. Crew TopG3830_WU9631_m Polka Dots are one of those prints that when done right it can be EVERYTHING! And this top does polka dots right! I think I might save this top and wear it Memorial Day Weekend!

Thanks for checking out my spring shopping list! I promise there will be a bunch of new content up on the blog this month, the end of winter has just been a little gray and has had me a little down, I’m sure my fellow New Englanders understand! Share with me your Spring Must Buys in the comments!
