Birthday and Wine

Every year for my birthday me and my best friend Megan pick a winery and go do a tasting. Her birthday is November 2nd and mine is the 16th so we always get together on Veterans Day weekend to celebrate together.

This year we visited Mill River Winery in Rowley, MA and then we grabbed lunch and strolled around downtown Newburyport. Mill River was super small but they delivered on the charm. The bar tender was super knowledgeable about the wines. My favorite was the Plum Island Red!

After our tasting we drove the ten minutes to Newburyport. It was a little chilly but the sun was shinning. I had on my Lands End tartan puffer vest. Just like my other Lands End vest the pockets are fleece lined which is perfect for keeping my hands warm! I counted the other day and it turns out I have 6 vests! And that’s after loosing my favorite Vineyard Vines vest this summer when I moved. But I’m a firm believer that you can never have enough vests! Where is your favorite place to get vests from? Newburyport is super charming. I know New England is full of charming seaside towns but I’ve always really liked Newburyport!

Remember November

I feel like November is always a good time to look back on the year and reflect. My birthday is November 16th so I’m one year older this month, it is also right before we all get caught up in the craziness of the holidays. This year November is going to be a busy month for me but I’m very excited.

I’ve been feeling a little stressed about work and school lately. There is just so much going on and I’m really looking forward to taking sometime for myself this month. I’ll be doing some traveling and celebrating my birthday, what does everyone else do to relax?

While October often gets credit as “peak foliage” month this year the weather has been very warm so the leaves in Boston and southern New England are peaking right now. I love strolling through the public gardens on the last few warm days enjoying the leaves as they change.

Happy November!

J.Crew Factory Sale

I have always been a fan of J.Crew Factory, I find that ‘preppy’ brands can cost big dollars! J.Crew Factory allows you to get the preppy look without emptying your piggy bank, when I was in high school it was my go to place to shop and is still one of my favorites! I’ve heard people complain that the quality isn’t as good as J.Crew retail, as someone who owns a lot from both branches of J.Crew I can say I have never had an issue with anything I bought at Factory. Is the quality as good as J.Crew? No but it’s still good and it’s half the price, you get what you pay for people!

In all the post-Holiday madness it is had to keep up with all the sales and after spending so much on gifts for others your bank account may be hurting a little. Which is why you can’t afford to miss this sale! Use the code WINTERFUN and get an additional 50% off clearance! Let me say that one more time, go to the clearance section, look at that already marked down price and then take an addition 50% off! There is some great finds in the clearance section right now I linked a few below! I got two new skirts that will be perfect to wear in the office this winter. I think I might go back and get a couple more things tonight. This sale is online only and is going on till January 8th while supply lasts so get on it!

Autumn on the Hill

I remember how much my friends hated history class back in high school it was the class no one liked and everyone complained about. Not me. I loved history, here I am today a history major in one of the most historic cities in the country. In Boston history isn’t just a subject in school but something we experience everyday. I was talking with a classmate the other day from California, I asked him what made him come to Boston and was he liking it thus far. He started talking about the buildings and how everything inCalifornia was brand new but here all the buildings were old but they had a history. I smiled because he put into words one of the things I love best about this city I’ve called home my entire life.

Historic Beacon Hill is one of my favorite neighborhoods to stroll through, especially during Fall. The residents of Beacon Hill know how to decorate for every season but they do fall particularly well. The leaves haven’t quiet changed yet but they’re getting there. Give it a week or two and you should swing by Acorn street. It never disappoints, it is called America’s most photographed street for a reason. Today was a little over cast so I put on my favorite chunky sweater and strolled up and down the streets of Beacon Hill enjoying the latest hints of autumn that decorate some of the most historic buildings in all of America.
