Pre-Holiday Getaway with Lark Hotels

The Holidays can be wonderful, but they can also be stressful! So this year Mike and I decided to get away for a weekend before the Holidays really ramped up. We checked in to The Hotel Salem, a fabulous Lark Hotel located in the heart of down-town Salem. It was perfect timing, the Halloween crowds were gone and things were still calm ahead of the Holidays. 4DF123E3-BEBF-44C7-8C54-9B501FA8B29E

The Hotel Salem opened just over a year ago. It is conveniently located, a bunch of great restaurants and cute shops are all within walking distance. The Peabody Essex Museum is just one block away and The Witch Museum is right next door! If you’ve never been to Salem I highly recommend doing both.

On Saturday we hit up Far From The Tree Cider and did a couple of flights to sample all their different ciders. On warmer days you can sit out on the patio, they don’t serve food but you are welcome to bring your own or have something delivered! Definitely try the seasonal cider, everything is made with local, freshly pressed apples for small batch cider.  BDBE0C89-84B2-44D7-B718-58E1C7D62B49_1_201_a.jpeg

The Hotel Salem has a restaurant located on the first floor of the building, The Counter. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! Friday night I had the Short Rib Grilled cheese, this thing was bigger than my head and it was amazing!! For breakfast in the morning I had the French Toast and Mike had the Chorizo Hash,  while we planned out our fun day of exploring Salem. When you stay at the hotel you get 10% off food at The Counter so definitely stop in for at least one meal during your stay.

Our hotel room was roomie and as with all Lark Hotels was uniquely designed to fit the location. It was the perfect setting to unwind and relax. Each room comes with all the necessary amenities; waffle robe, big screen TV, comfy bed, and most importantly a wine opener! There is also a coffee and tea station on each floor that you can help yourself to anytime of day. The station was also equipped with sparkling and filtered water. We had such a nice time, after a long day of exploring Salem we literally just crashed and took a quick nap before dinner. If you’re a light sleeper, try and request a room towards the back of the hotel, our room overlooked Essex St and it was definitely a bit noisy with all the bars and restaurants right there. 8B22BFFF-27FA-425A-9437-3C4AE745F35062CEFF46-6F25-4BB9-AADF-A4253727A52118287A47-CEC3-47B1-86B3-46C204DD84C7

After a weekend with The Hotel Salem I am feeling refreshed and ready for the holidays! What are you doing to relax and unwind before the holidays?

Thank you so much to Lark Hotels for hosing us for the weekend, as always all opinions are my own.

A night with Zuma

Something very exiting happened in Boston this week! Zuma, located at the new Four Seasons One Dalton, hosted they’re soft opening! There are Zuma restaurants all over the world and now Boston has joined the list. I went with my friend Elissa, be sure to check out her blog Style Wire, and we were treated to one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

We tried a bunch of different dishes. The menu has everything from sushi, Robata grilled vegetables and fish, as well as traditional entrees. To say things exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. From the moment we walked we were greeted by the beautiful atmosphere and friendly hosts. There was even a live DJ playing the bar area!

We were so happy to be seated at the bar overlooking the Robata grill. Getting to watch the chefs at work was a real treat! The service was exceptional from beginning to end, our server was helpful, all the runners were able to speak to each dish we tried, and the manager was wonderful!

This was without a doubt my favorite dish! Seared Boston Scallops with sea urchin and black truffle. They scallops were so fresh, and the sea urchin and truffle all came together delectably as it all melted in your mouth. I almost considered ordered a second dish of these at the end of our meal they were so phenomenal!

Another scallop dish, of you don’t enjoy seafood you might be at the wrong restaurant. Zuma has plenty of other dishes to offer, but you are seriously missing out! These were the Grilled Scallops with pickled plum, shiso, and mentaiko. Behind the scallops is the Soft Shell Crab served with a wasabi mayonnaise, a classic and it was as delicious as expected! It was lightly fried but didn’t feel heavy at all.

If you love sushi you will love this Seared Tune with chili daikon and ponzu sauce.

Remember when I said you better like seafood if you’re visiting Zuma? Well I may have forgotten to mention all the amazing dishes out there for my friends who prefer turf to surf. These Robata skewers with beef and shishito peppers we incredible. I am not a big beef eater but these were cooked to perfection and the flavor and spicy were incredible!

With out a doubt the best part of the meal was the Roasted Boston Lobster. I love lobster and was thoroughly impressed by how well this was prepared, a perfect balance of butter and lemon. We ended the meal with some dessert. Honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the dessert selections, I had the Buddha chocolate mouse cake served with mango sorbet. And Elissa got the fruit platter. After dinner we stopped at the bar for a cocktail. Our bartender Alejandro was fantastic, he was able to tell us so much about the different drinks on the menu, order the “Burning History” for a real show!

Thank you so much adorable an incredible evening Zuma. I can’t wait to see what else One Dalton has in store for this city!

Zuma was kind enough to host us, but as always all opinions are my own.

Brunch for Dinner- Del Frisco’s Grille

This week I had the opportunity to preview the new Del Frisco’s Grille opening on University Ave in Westwood. I love the Del Frisco’s Grille in Burlington and the Del Frisco’s Steak House in Boston so I was super excited to go try some of the latest menu items in Westwood. We got to hear about all the dishes from Chef Shawn Quinn, trust me the food was as delicious as it looks! We got to try a variety from the new brunch menu, brunch for dinner is fantastic and we should all start doing brunch on Friday nights!

We started with Nonna’s Cinnamon Rolls, these were fresh out of the oven and covered in Bourbon-espresso caramel sauce and toasted pecans. The caramel sauce is made in house and it is to die for! This was hands down my favorite dish of the night, I will literally be dreaming of the cinnamon rolls. 28C69127-2095-40E7-B5F2-3F82F470B279

Along with Nonna’s Cinnamon Rolls we had a smoked Salmon Tower and Bloody Marys! Next up was the Greens and Grains Bowl, filled with Quinoa, Charred Broccoli, Baby Spinach, Edamame, Beets, Avocado, Dried Cranberries, Roasted Almonds, a Poached cage-free egg, and sweet basil dressing. It sounds healthy and normally I would shy away from a salad-ish dish at brunch but this bowl was so flavorful, everything came together perfectly!

Served with the Greens and Grains Bowl was the Honeymoon in Paris cocktail. Definitely my favorite cocktail of the night! AE57D99A-4B4B-419D-A456-9017BBA04F34 Brunch for Dinner continued with Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and Crack Coffee! Chef Shawn was super excited about these pancakes and I immediately understood why, they are amazing! Served with fresh berries and blueberry-maple syrup. BFA3A86E-9330-46F5-A578-3CF3CB231292157FEC63-8CC3-4E73-8F67-97AB33A68791If you’re more of a savory brunch person than a sweet brunch person the next two dishes are right up your alley. Eggs in Purgatory, and Braised Shot Rib Hash. I tend to go for savoy dishes over sweet dishes at brunch, if I was having brunch here for the first time I would probably go for the Eggs in Purgatory. Poached cage-free eggs, roasted tomato pepper sauce, avocado flatbread, baby arugula, feta, and lemon vinaigrette. Whats not to love? The Short Rib Hash had two sunny side up eggs served on top with a Bordelaise sauce.66274CCF-B2C5-4D41-9C6C-CC5754BC382262B49828-E184-4544-A0BB-F08E1AAA2D15

To finish out we had Pan-Seared Scallops with baby zucchini and Filet Mignon with charred honey tahini broccoli. I am normally not a steak person but the Filet was cooked to perfection. And lets be real if you’re going to Del Frisco’s you should get a steak. The honey tahini broccoli was so good! We tried a Chianti and a Cabernet, I definitely preferred the Chianti.A80EF62A-0E83-4E30-8ECA-2162C3C994F58765DFF8-72B9-4194-976E-EDF6C582E08DB8429F62-EB34-45DE-996C-C9A89E040217

Thank you so much to the Del Frisco’s team for having me and my friend Jen in for dinner. I encourage everyone to go try the new Del Frisco’s Grille in Westwood, just a short walk from the commuter rail. Congratulations to Chef Shawn and the whole Del Frisco’s team, you all have put together an incredible menu.

Frenchie Boston

Last week I had lunch at Frenchie in the South End to celebrate my birthday. If you haven’t been to Frenchie you must check it out, it’s such a cute place and the menu is fantastic. Me and my friend Maddie split a basket of their Herb French fries, if I were to get them again I would ask for them well done ours were a little soft for my taste. We also got the Charcuterie board. I had a glass of red and Maddie had a glass of sparkling rosé. I can’t wait to go back and try their brunch! We finished with the creme brûlée which was delicious!

Month in Review

October is my favorite months! The leaves are changing, the air gets crips, and there are so many fall activities! This month I had the opportunity to go to some great events that I wanted to share with all of you, this is a long one so bare with me!

Anoush’ella Opening

I was invited to go to Anoush’ella, a new restaurant in the South End, to try some apps and coacktails. I had such a great time and the food was delicious! We tried a couple of the signature cocktails and they did not disappoint, my favorite was the Peach Thyme Martini. If you’re in the south end be sure to stop by and support this fabulous new business! Thank Anoush’ella for hosting this great event.

Peach Popup on Newbury

If you haven’t heard of Peach it is an athleisure brand that just opened their first popup on Newbury Street. I swung by the store to check out the new line and chat with the staff. Everyone was so friendly, they are really passionate about their brand! The product was really high quality and price range was a little pricey but still less than lululemon, I’m not someone who normally likes to spend a lot on clothes I’m going to wear to work out in but when it’s great quality I don’t mind. Be sure to stop by sometime soon!

Third Thursday

I attended Third Thursday at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum with my friend Maddie this month. As the name implies on the third Thursday of every month the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum hosts an evening with music and drinks and you can stroll through the galleries. You can buy tickets on the website, it’s definitely a great experience you should check out!

Tapestry

I had dinner at Tapestry for the first time this month and I was super impressed! Just a short walk from Fenway it has a great atmosphere the front bar is casual and laidback with an awesome pizza oven and the back lounge is the perfect place to relax with a cocktail. The own was so kind and the bartenders were great! We tried their new Chai Applecider Mimosa and it was to die for! We enjoyed a margherita pizza and sampled a few new desserts, I will definitely be going back! Thank you so much Tapestry for having us!

Boston Athenaeum

If you’ve never been to the Athenaeum you should definitely check it out! It’s normally only open to members but if you keep an eye on their website they host open houses and events open to the public. The 5th floor reading room is stunning! Stroll over to 10 1/2 Beacon Street to visit.
Halloween with Godiva

This month I received a whole box of goodies from Godiva to help me celebrate Halloween. I love chocolate and was so excited to try out some new things! They sent pumpkin spice truffles along with a box of assorted truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, and a candy bar set! I devoured the chocolate covered pretzels and me and my roommates shared the truffles. If you still need to pick up some goodies for Halloween definitely stop by Godiva!
I hope everyone has a fun Halloween! I’ll see you in November!!

I may have received complimentary product or experiences for this post but as always all opinions are my own.
