I’m a dog person. I always knew I was even though I didn’t get my first dog till I was 9 years old. The first week of 4th grade we got a black lab and we named him Tucker. Tucker came from a breeder in Oklahoma who bred dogs for hunting Tucker was the runt of the litter so we were expecting a smaller lab. My dad brought him home from the air port and I saw the biggest paws I have ever seen. He was going to be huge. I cried tears of joy that day.
I don’t remember what life was like before Tucker, these past 12 years he has become an integral part of my life. I have gotten used to always being greeted at the door when I come home, I have become quiet good at eating while being barked at, but he has always been there to clean up any spillage. He has been my best friend and taught me the meaning of unconditional love.
Today I said goodbye to my best friend. Tucker was 12 years old and had become very sick. It was so hard to say goodbye but I know he is running around in doggie heaven now. I will always have the memories of him running around the back yard, kicking the soccer ball around with him and all nights laying on the couch together. Rest easy buddy, I’ll miss you.
Our sympathies are with you!
