Working full time and running my own business on the side definitely keeps me busy. My dad always told me growing up that time was more valuable than anything else in the world, and wow was he right. I am constantly striving to streamline certain parts of my life, be more efficient with my time, to give myself more time to relax and unwind. Here are 8 must have tools that save time and money.
L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BLOW DRY IT Quick Dry Primer
This is a holy grail hair care item for me. I have really long, really thing hair. So washing and drying it is a whole event. Blow drying my hair used to take 30 – 45 minutes, not only did I hate spending that much time on my hair but the long heat exposure is really bad for it. This spray has cut drying time IN HALF! Not only is this magical spray a heat protectant, but it speeds up dry time. I was pretty skeptical when I first bought it, I was out of my normal heat protectant spray and I thought even if it sped up drying time by a couple minutes that would be nice. I was amazed when it cut my dry time in half! You should always use a heat protectant spray when using heat on your hair, bad bitches don’t have damaged hair. With this spray you can save time and get back to building your empire faster. Its been out of stock on Amazon and Target but it looks like its currently available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
Baby Powder
So if you wash your hair every day you are A. damaging your hair and scalp and B. wasting time! I have worked very long to get myself on a 7 day wash schedule. But I still need a dry shampoo. Trust me when I say I have wasted hundreds of dollars trying every dry shampoo out there. Sprays, powders, foams, literally if it’s out there I’ve probably tried it. I never got the results I needed. They made my hair feel weighted down and some left a filmy residue on my hair. Introducing my go to “dry-shampoo”: baby powder! This was actually an old pageant trick I learned in my teenage years. Baby powder soaks up all the oil and grease in your hair and then you just brush it out. I like to sprinkle it throughout my hair, let it sit for about 20 minutes, and then brush it out. If you have dark hair or thick hair it’s super important you give it time to sit. I save so much time and money being on a 7 day hair wash schedule. I just use baby powder on day 4 or 5 and I’m good to go, plus a giant container of baby powder only costs $5. Stop over complicating your hair care. Get on a 7 day wash schedule to save time and money!
Elta MD tinted sunscreen
Smart women know that sunscreen is the number one thing you can do to prevent aging and take care of your skin. I personally don’t like wearing makeup every day. But sometimes when I’m looking a little red or blotchy I want something to even out my tone. The Elta MD mineral sunscreen is my go to and the tinted version is perfect for days when I need a little something without doing a full face of make up. I am always looking to save time on my makeup routine and because I wear sunscreen daily I will save time later in life not having to go get botox all the time. If you’re still not wearing sunscreen everyday in 2021 you need to go read this post.
KAJA Wink Stamp Wing Eyeliner Stamp and Pen
I was never going to be a surgeon, I have super shakey hands. On days when I do want to get dressed up and put on a full face of makeup this eyeliner stamp is my secret weapon. One quick dab and I have perfectly matched winged eyeliner on both eyes. No need to spend a ton of time doing and re-doing eyeliner. The stamp even has a left and right label so you don’t need to spend any time thinking about how to hold it.
Stainless-Steel Cold Cup – 24 fl oz
Bad bitches aren’t dehydrated! Drinking water is not going to fix your anxiety, your relationship, or make you lose 10 pounds. But trust me you will feel better if you are regularly hydrated. I’ve been told by several nutritionists over the years that by simply drinking through a straw you are going to drink way more. And it’s true, I go through about 4 of these a day, which is almost an entire gallon. My mom had stomach surgery a while back and they even told her she couldn’t drink through a straw post-op because she would drink too much and damage the incision. You really drink more by just adding a straw. I have this stainless steel one in black. I like it because it keeps my drinks nice a cold. But there are hundreds available on Amazon. Find one you like and carry it with you everywhere! 24oz is a sweet spot for me where I don’t feel like I have to refill it a million times throughout the day but it still fits in my car cup holders etc.
Blossom App
I love my houseplants! Pre 2020 I had one snake plant and one cactus. They were easy, required very little time and attention on my part. However quarantine turned me into a crazy plant mom and I now have 10+ plants. The blossom app keeps track of all your plants and sends you notifications when it’s time to water, repot, fertilize etc. It makes it so easy and I have yet to kill any of my plants! Not everything in your life needs to be a time saver, sometimes its about putting a process in place that will set you up for long term success.
Chapstick Holder Keychain
If you’re like me, I have a purse chapstick, a car chapstick, a bathroom chapstick, and a nightstand chapstick. And I STILL manage to loose my chapstick. My friend Maggie showed me these adorable chapstick holders that you can attach to your keys, a purse handle, or really anywhere you want to find your chapstick. Nothing kills my confidence like having chapped, broken, and peeling lips. These have helped me keep track of my chapstick with ease!
Lay-n-Go Drawstring Makeup Bag
This bag is a must have for my bad bitches that travel a lot. The draw string style bag lays completely flat on the bathroom counter top so you can see all your skincare, make up etc. in one place. When your done just pull the draw sting closed and you have an easy to carry pouch that fits ALL your stuff. I save so much time packing with this bag! And I have yet to lose anything or leave anything behind at a hotel since getting it. It even has slots for your makeup brushes and a jewelry pocket. Stop trying to zip everything into a small cosmetic case, stop packing a crazy makeup organizer that takes up 1/4 of your suitcase.
And there you have it! 8 items that will save you time, because time is money after all. Women are under so much pressure to always be “doing the most.” And I am a firm believe in not over complicating things. Spend less time drying your hair, less time packing your makeup, and less time running around searching for your chapstick. Making small, easily achievable changes to your every day life can have a huge impact. So you can be the bad bitch you want to be!
